Manager, Software Engineering - AI Infrastructure

Figma is growing its team of creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all.

The AI Infrastructure team builds foundational inference systems for Figma's AI products, ensuring high reliability, observability, and seamless model integration.

As a hands-on engineering leader, you will support and grow the team, define and execute technical strategy, and collaborate with engineering teams to build best-in-class AI features.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, grow, and support a team of engineers building foundational infrastructure for Figma's AI products.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to define technical strategy and manage project execution.
• Hire, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers to scale the team.
• Engage deeply with technical details and decisions to deliver a robust AI platform.
• Build an inclusive team and culture through thoughtful hiring practices.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams, ideally in AI.
• 8+ years of total engineering experience, ideally reaching a staff engineering level.
• Experience working on production AI systems.
• Proven track record of motivating and growing experienced AI engineering leads.
• Demonstrated experience learning new AI technologies quickly.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience building AI agents, agent harnesses, or LLM/agent tooling platforms.
• Experience building high-scale production infrastructure.
• Background in adjacent platform domains, such as recommendation systems or networking.

Annual Base Salary Range: $258,000-$376,000 USD
