Description
GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Backend Engineer for its SSCS Add-On team. The successful candidate will help build a dedicated software supply chain security feature for regulated enterprise organizations. This involves contributing to capabilities that help customers control software dependencies, verify artifact integrity, and identify malicious packages before they reach production.
The engineer will work on implementing well-scoped backend features, building and maintaining integrations, writing and maintaining comprehensive automated test coverage, and participating in code reviews. They will collaborate with adjacent teams and work effectively in an async-first environment across global time zones.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing backend features for the Add-On's supply chain security product
- Building and maintaining integrations with GitLab's existing software composition analysis scanning infrastructure
- Writing and maintaining automated test coverage
- Participating in code reviews and contributing to clear internal documentation
- Coordinating with adjacent teams and collaborating in an async-first environment
Requirements:
- Backend development experience
- Proficiency in Go/Python/RoR and PostgreSQL fundamentals
- Familiarity with Golang or willingness to learn
- Strong testing discipline and experience with RSpec or equivalent
- Clear written communication skills and experience collaborating in asynchronous workflows
- Ability to manage scoped work independently and adjust to shifting priorities
- Interest in package ecosystems and software supply chain security
