Field Technical Engineer

We are looking for a Field Technical Engineer to partner with Account Executives (AEs) to drive technical discovery, demos, Proofs of Concept (POCs), and expansion with technical validation.

You will build trusted relationships across engineering, scientific computing, R&D, and commercial IT teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with AEs to own technical discovery, demos, POCs, and expansion with technical validation
• Building trusted relationships across engineering, scientific computing, R&D, and commercial IT
• Working deeply in research-heavy and regulated environments, including developer workflows, AI tooling, and complex setups
• Helping customers connect Cursor to outcomes that matter, such as faster R&D cycles and a shorter path from lab to market
• Delivering technical presentations, whiteboards, and workshops for scientific and commercial audiences
• Acting as the customer's technical advocate internally with Product and Engineering
• Partnering with post-sales to ensure a smooth handoff and setup for success
• Staying up-to-date on Cursor and the competitive landscape to effectively engage in discussions

To be a good fit for this role, you should:

• Possess strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to comfortably code alongside developers or present to CTOs and scientific leaders
• Understand the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and can connect technical detail to business and scientific impact
• Have hands-on technical fluency (not full-time engineer) in areas such as workflows, AI tooling, and complex environments
• Demonstrate deal-partner instinct, co-owning with AEs and navigating complex stakeholder maps
• Be customer-obsessed and able to translate technical detail into why it matters for the organization
• Have experience in Field Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Pre-Sales, or Consulting
• Be excited about Life Sciences and comfortable learning regulated/research-heavy organizations quickly
• Be motivated by putting AI in the hands of people accelerating benefits for humanity
