Description

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Driver Information, IVI Hardware, Software, Features, and Systems interact within the vehicle architecture. Working under the guidance of a supervisor, you will drive campaign prevention awareness and conduct rigorous reviews across various design gateways to ensure robust system performance.

As needed, some travel will be required to the Ford assembly plants to perform "Fresh Eyes Reviews" (FER) and Line Walks. By conducting physical, process, and system audits on the shop floor, you will bridge the gap between virtual development and physical production. This role is essential for verifying that the complex integration of hardware and software meets all quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Integrated Fresh Eyes Reviews (FER): As needed, lead and participate in audits for certain build phases (prototype through production). Perform Line Walks and plant process reviews to verify the correct installation and performance of IVI Hardware, Software, Features, and Systems.
  • System-Level Plant Audits: Review End-of-Line (EOL) processes and vehicle configurations. Perform spot audits on the plant floor to ensure that hardware-software interfaces are functioning as intended and that prior system issues have been resolved.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Support: Partner with PMT Leaders, Systems Engineers, Feature/Software Engineers, and D&R Engineers to resolve complex design and integration issues identified during reviews.
  • Quality & Risk Documentation: Audit FMAs and Control Plans for all IVI components. Ensure that failure modes related to hardware, software, and system-level interactions are addressed, and that proper linkages and reaction plans are in place.
  • Issue Management: Facilitate the recording and tracking of Class 1 and Class 2 issues identified during plant reviews. Drive the development and closure of the Prevent Action Closure (PAC) process for IVI systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Update foundation documents and GPDS templates with Global Lessons Learned, incorporating recent data from campaigns and "stop ships" to improve IVI system robustness.
  • On-Site Representation: Represent IVI in FER Exit Meetings with the Global Campaign Prevention Specialist, Program Teams, and Plant leadership, providing technical expertise on system-level risks.
  • Milestone Preparation: Prepare technical evidence and documentation required for Chief Attestations at major gateways, including FDJ, FEC, and MP1.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in IVI, with a balanced technical background across Hardware, Software, Features, and Systems.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of FMVSS requirements as they relate to IVI systems.
  • Tools: Experience with GPDS tools (FEDE, AIMS, Jira) and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Ford SharePoint.
  • Travel Readiness: Ability and willingness to travel as needed to various Ford assembly plants for on-site reviews and audits.

Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
