Description

Okta is seeking a Staff Technical Writer to lead documentation for major product launches. The successful candidate will work on documentation for developer.okta.com and help.okta.com, reporting to the Manager of Technical Documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, QA, Support, and Information Development teams
  • Prioritise documentation work across multiple initiatives to meet release dates
  • Create end-to-end feature documentation for various engineering teams, including developer and admin content
  • Develop comprehensive product expertise to ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with customer workflows
  • Identify areas for improvement and suggest enhancements, including the use of Generative AI tools
  • Analyse customer feedback to enhance content depth, quality, and relevance

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience writing documentation for Cloud or Enterprise products
  • Proficiency in Oxygen XML Author, VS Code, Acrolinx, Git/GitHub, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience with DITA, Markdown, OpenAPI, and API publishing platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools
  • Security/IAM domain knowledge, preferably with Okta or similar IDaaS
  • Track record of leading documentation efforts independently for a launch
  • Strong technical fluency to read code and API specs
  • Experience writing for developers, such as SDK, CLI, or API reference guides
  • Ability to prioritise and negotiate scope or timelines with stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and strong communicator
  • Experience working with team members across different timezones
  • Team player with experience collaborating with various stakeholders
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment

Desired skills:

  • Familiarity with localisation and translation best practices
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
