Description
Ford of Canada is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience for its Ottawa team. The role involves designing, developing, and debugging embedded C software for complex features in vehicles, focusing on performance optimization, system robustness, and quality improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize AI and automation in high-leverage development tasks and help shape team AI practices.
- Design, develop, and debug embedded C software for low-level and platform-level components.
- Optimize performance across RAM usage, CPU load, and compiler/build settings.
- Enhance system robustness, fault handling, and stability through runtime behavior analysis.
- Define and track software quality metrics and lead continuous quality and reliability improvements.
- Own architecture, interfaces, and technical strategy for critical embedded components.
- Mentor junior engineers and coach across teams.
- Communicate technical content effectively to various stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer/Electrical) or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of embedded software development experience.
- Minimum 5 years of C programming experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with ARM architecture and low-level software development.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with AUTOSAR concepts and integration.
- Experience with communication stacks such as CAN and Embedded Ethernet.
- Proven experience in optimizing memory footprint, CPU utilization, and compiler options.
- Experience with software quality practices, metrics, and defect reduction.
Benefits:
- Expected annual salary range: $96,000.00 - $146,000.00
- Eligibility to participate in the Annual Compensation bonus program
