Charles River Associates (CRA) is a premier consulting firm that has been in operation since 1965. You will be part of a team that uses economic, financial, and business analysis to solve complex problems for clients, including major law firms, Fortune 100 companies, and government agencies.
Our Energy Practice advises clients in the regulated energy space on crucial issues. We represent utilities and other energy firms before regulators, resolve disputes, support investors on complex transactions, and help plan and build the energy grid of the future.
We are seeking to expand our existing regulatory team with the hire of senior-level consultants with industry expertise in areas that include regulation, utility finance, and transactions. The role requires at least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in consulting roles or in-house with utility companies and state or federal regulators.
Responsibilities:
- Manage complex projects, particularly in areas such as utility revenue requirements, cost of service, and rate design
- Project management of utility rate cases and similar proceedings
- Experience with alternative regulation, including performance-based regulation, multi-year rate plans, energy decoupling, and incentive regulatory mechanisms
- Transactions involving regulated utilities or infrastructure
- Strategic advisory for utilities or the owners of regulated infrastructure
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; master's degree preferred
- Ability to independently manage consulting teams and complex assignments with limited oversight
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Comfort working in an unstructured environment
- Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness

Work Location Flexibility:

Salary and other compensation:
- Annual base salary range: $140,000 - $215,000
- Eligible for additional bonus incentive compensation
