Description
We are seeking a Senior Japanese Linguist to join our Production team remotely. As a Senior Japanese Linguist, you will manage translation and copy-editing tasks, ensuring high-quality linguistic deliverables for assigned projects or accounts.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accounts
- Performing on-demand translation tasks
- Leading linguist role on assigned accounts
- Taking ownership of deliveries translated internally or by external partners into Japanese
- Preparing, managing, and maintaining language materials, including glossaries and style guides
- Managing project-related queries and resolving terminology issues
- Coordinating with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists
- Testing and qualifying new freelancers and vendors
- Developing and training internal linguists and freelancers
- Interacting with clients on linguistic matters
- Participating in process improvement initiatives
- Meeting or exceeding KPIs for productivity, on-time delivery, and quality
Requirements:
- University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, or Linguistics
- Native fluency in Japanese
- 8+ years of experience in translation, localization, or content writing
- 5+ years of review experience
- Thorough understanding of the localization process
- Excellent knowledge of terminology and subject matters
- Experience with CAT tools, such as XTM and SDL Studio
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
