Reporter, Axios DC

Axios is seeking a Reporter to cover the Washington, D.C. area as part of its local news initiative.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer who can own conversations about local news, lifestyle, and sports, and write engaging newsletters.

Responsibilities include:

• Authoring a daily Axios newsletter with insights and scoops relevant to the D.C. audience
• Having a deep understanding of the local market and sourcing to inform readers
• Experimenting with and using AI for reporting and newsletter production
• Writing in Axios' Smart Brevity style
• Contributing to the development of Axios Local

Requirements:

• Experience covering news in D.C.
• Excellent sourcing skills and ability to create new sources
• Ability to break news and create conceptual scoops
• Strong curiosity about the local community
• Comfort with expressing voice and personality in writing
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced news environment
• Desire to make oneself indispensable to local readers and Axios Local

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $60,000 - $130,000, dependent on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
