Broadcast IT Engineer

We are seeking a full-time Broadcast Engineer to join the Technology team at WZDX-TV Huntsville, a TEGNA FOX station. As a Broadcast Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the station's technical equipment, including traditional broadcast hardware and industry-specific software.

The ideal candidate can balance multiple ongoing projects while addressing the immediate maintenance needs of a 24/7 operation. You should enjoy problem-solving, be a people person, and have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day operations of the station, including daily news operations, equipment, and computer-based IT systems.
• Install and maintain broadcast and IT equipment at studio facilities, transmitter sites, remote broadcast vehicles, and other remote locations.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, making repairs or implementing workarounds as needed.
• Perform routine security updates and reboots of broadcast servers.
• Contribute to technical documentation that accurately represents installed equipment.
• Occasional field work on remote productions and minor building-related maintenance tasks.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in broadcast engineering or a related field.
• Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision and under pressure.
• Solid understanding of current computer hardware, network technologies, and Microsoft's Active Directory environment.
• Ability to plan technical projects and clearly communicate the status of problems, provide updates on project progress, and offer solutions to technical issues.
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with on-call availability.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, working on elevated surfaces, pulling and installing wiring, using hand and power tools, and performing other physical tasks.
