Description
Electronic Arts is seeking an Environment Artist to join the EA SPORTS FC team in Vancouver, Canada. The successful candidate will work onsite three days a week and be part of a 12-month contract with the possibility of longer-term employment.
The EA SPORTS FC Art team creates content across multiple disciplines, pushing visual boundaries and building immersive experiences. As an Environment Artist, you will work with internal and external teams to achieve diverse and engaging worlds and gameplay levels. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating high-quality benchmark content, from individual assets to levels, sets, or stadiums/arenas and complex worlds
- Creating and maintaining schematic and logic-based hook-ups for level environments
- Set dressing locations to convey depth and storytelling
- Deconstructing concept art, reference imagery, and style guides into efficient asset lists
- Participating in the level building process, from initial grey-block rapid layout to final assets
- Breaking down tasks, assembling reference material, and overseeing the work of internal and external artists
- Troubleshooting and creating workflows and documentation
- Collaborating with other artists, tech artists, and leads
- Integrating assets into the game to ensure seamless design and style
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of production experience with asset creation and overseeing entire levels
- Expert knowledge of Maya or similar 3D modeling software
- Exceptional asset creation abilities (hard surface, architecture, and/or organic assets)
- Experience working methodically from initial grey-block through to final assets
- Strong sense of proportion, scene composition, and lighting
- Ability to assess scope, make recommendations, and deliver on time and to quality
- Experience working with content-driven game engines (e.g., Unreal, Frostbite, Unity)
- Experience collaborating with designers, engineers, and tech artists
- High-fidelity modeling skills and ability to paint photorealistic surfaces using industry-standard 3D paint software (ideally Substance Painter)
- Experience with photogrammetry, ZBrush, and Substance Designer is a plus
- Experience working with outsource vendors is a plus
