Head of Revenue Accounting - Deal Desk & Technical Accounting

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are looking for a Head of Revenue Accounting, Deal Desk & Technical Accounting to own the accounting judgments behind our growth.

As the company's authority on complex revenue accounting questions, you will develop our revenue recognition policies, lead enhancements to our revenue system, and design, implement, and operate our internal controls.

Key responsibilities:

• Own technical accounting and serve as the company's authority on complex revenue recognition matters
• Own the deal desk from accounting and partner with Sales and Legal to structure agreements
• Influence deal structures before they're signed and shape our systems roadmap
• Lead financial reporting and disclosure, and prepare revenue-related footnotes
• Lead the revenue system enhancements and own the ongoing roadmap
• Design and implement internal controls and build scalable processes
• Apply Claude to the team's work and utilize it to streamline processes
• Enable growth while maintaining controllership and partner across teams
• Lead and grow the team, setting priorities and mentoring team members

Minimum qualifications:

• A track record of leading and developing a high-performing accounting team
• Deep expertise in revenue recognition under ASC 606 for software, subscription, or consumption-based business models
• Personal ownership of complex technical accounting research and writing position memos
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating internal controls over financial reporting
• Demonstrated ability to influence non-accounting stakeholders
• Experience owning a revenue or billing platform
• CPA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification

Preferred qualifications:

• Public company experience or experience preparing a high-growth company for public reporting
• Background at a national or Big Four firm
• Experience with consumption-based, usage-based, or hybrid revenue models
• Experience using large language models or AI tooling to automate accounting
• Experience standing up or overhauling a deal desk approval process
• Hands-on Zuora implementation or operation experience
