Description
We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
Product Creation and Industrialization (PC&I) brings together Ford’s vehicle, electric, digital and design teams with our global manufacturing system. Working as one end-to-end organization, we turn ideas into high-quality vehicles, software and experiences across gas, hybrid and electric, designed around what customers need.
In this position, the Software Integration Test Technician prepares vehicles and test environments, deploys software, executes integration tests, and helps investigate issues across vehicle electronic systems. Working with engineering teams, you’ll document findings and support reliable, repeatable testing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare prototype vehicles, lab benches, HIL systems, and test equipment for software integration and testing.
- Bring vehicles and test assets to readiness, including flashing software, applying calibrations, configuring modules, and installing instrumentation.
- Execute vehicle-level integration, functional, regression, and system tests; help develop repeatable test procedures.
- Monitor vehicle behavior and analyze diagnostics, logs, measurements, and CAN, LIN, Ethernet, or other network data.
- Reproduce and troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues, and share findings with engineering teams to support resolution.
- Record test results, configurations, software versions, conditions, and defects in engineering and issue-tracking systems.
- Support defect tracking and verification, prototype fleet readiness, and the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of test assets.
- Coordinate testing with engineering teams and support off-site testing at proving grounds and other development facilities as needed.
- Follow safety practices, engineering procedures, release processes, and configuration-management requirements; identify opportunities to improve testing and documentation.
Qualifications
- An associate degree in automotive technology, electronics, mechatronics, computer systems, engineering technology, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle systems, electronics, diagnostics, software integration or testing, test equipment, or prototype vehicles.
- Experience with electronic control systems and software deployment or flashing.
- Familiarity with vehicle networks and diagnostics, such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.
- Strong electrical, mechanical, and software-interface troubleshooting skills; ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ability to follow test procedures, analyze vehicle behavior and test data, and document findings accurately.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering teams.
- Ability to work safely around prototype vehicles, test equipment, labs, and high-voltage systems, as applicable.
- Willingness to travel to test locations and development facilities as required.
