Benefits Advising (Renewals) Manager

Gusto is seeking a leader for its Benefits Advising team, providing small business owners and employees with expert benefits advice.

The Benefits Advising (Renewals) Manager will lead a licensed benefits advisor organization, empowering individual contributors to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Empower and coach team members to achieve operational excellence
• Drive customer retention and revenue growth through tailored renewal experiences
• Evolve the customer experience using feedback and data
• Lead change management and foster a culture of trust and continuous learning
• Work cross-functionally with various teams to improve tooling, training, and workflows
• Champion AI integration to enhance customer engagement

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of formal leadership experience in benefits advisory, customer success, or renewals
• Direct experience with small group health insurance (fully insured, level-funded, or PEO models)
• Proven ability to drive revenue growth, customer retention, and expansion
• Strong operational skills and experience with technology/automation solutions
• Executive presence and ability to align leaders across departments
• Customer-first mentality with a data-driven approach
• Holds (or will be expected to hold) a Life & Health insurance license

Salary:

• $86,530 - $106,000 per year in Phoenix
• $92,245 - $113,000 per year in Denver
