Squarespace is looking for a VP of Software Engineering to lead their Product Platform organization.
Product Platform exists to solve problems that cut across every product team so those teams can ship better products, faster. The customers are internal: the product teams taking Squarespace to market. The role owns the layer underneath them, spanning identity and access, user accounts, design system, media, communications, APIs and service frameworks, external developer environment, and shared AI capabilities.
This is a platform-as-product leadership role - the mission is to consolidate overlapping capabilities, drive adoption of shared foundations, and turn the platform into a source of velocity and product quality.
The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of engineering management experience, including leading engineering teams and developing technical leaders. They will have deep experience in platform engineering management, fluency in domains such as identity/auth, design systems, APIs and extensibility, and a track record of driving consolidation or modernization across fragmented systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the multi-year product strategy for Squarespace's product platform capabilities
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of engineering managers
- Defining what "platform as a product" means in practice
- Driving consolidation of fragmented and overlapping systems
- Shaping the external developer experience
- Partnering with product, design, security, and data leadership on architecture and investment trade-offs
