Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced full-time Band 6 Specialist Nurse in Sexual and Reproductive Health to join our team at King's Sexual Health, based at Camberwell Sexual Health Centre for 10 months fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
The role involves providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment of STIs, and delivery of contraceptive services, including implant provision. You will also undertake specialist procedures, support safeguarding responsibilities, contribute to audit and research, and act as a clinical role model within the multidisciplinary team to drive service development and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide autonomous nursing care to patients with sexual health and contraceptive needs
- Diagnose and treat STIs and related conditions
- Provide contraceptive services, including implant provision
- Undertake specialist procedures such as cryotherapy, microscopy, and speculum examination
- Support safeguarding responsibilities and contribute to audit and research
- Act as a clinical role model within the multidisciplinary team
Requirements:
- 1st level Registered General Nurse with active UK NMC registration
- Further professional studies relevant to the clinical area (e.g., DFRSH, LOC implant or a recognized sexual health course)
- Demonstrable clinical expertise, relevant to the area
- Enhanced knowledge and experience of sexual history taking, screening and examination of both female and male clients
- Communication skills - able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions
- Team building and working skills - able to lead a team to achieve results
