GuidePoint Security is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to work on data pipeline and observability in the Mid-Atlantic region remotely.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will design and build pipelines to fix problems with security data, such as high SIEM bills, inconsistent data, and platform migration issues. You will work directly with vendor partners and account teams, seeing the same problems across many client environments, and keeping up with a rapidly changing market.
Key areas of focus include:
- Establishing reliable and reusable data pipelines
- Improving data quality, accessibility, and processing efficiency
- Supporting security, observability, analytics, and operational use cases
Responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy, and optimize telemetry pipelines with Cribl Stream, Edge, Lake, and Search, and comparable platforms
- Onboard, parse, and normalize data from various sources into common schemas
- Build reduction, filtering, enrichment, and tiering strategies
- Quantify business cases for ingest and savings
- Brief client senior leadership on findings and recommendations
- Size and harden deployments, including worker topology and high availability
- Build governance into the data flow with masking and redaction, role-based access control, and retention policy
- Lead data workstreams for SIEM and platform migrations
- Deliver pipeline health checks and optimization assessments
- Support pre-sales and contribute to statements of work
- Work with vendor partner engineering teams on joint delivery and product feedback
Requirements:
- 5+ years in cybersecurity, IT operations, or data engineering
- 3+ years building and running production telemetry pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Cribl Stream or comparable pipeline platforms
- Working knowledge of SIEM or analytics destinations
- Client-facing delivery experience
- Linux administration and networking fundamentals
- Scripting and data skills in JavaScript, Python, or Bash
- Ability to engage senior leadership and translate technical work into business terms
Preferred Experience and Education:
- Experience at a VAR, systems integrator, or MSSP
- Technical writing experience
- Delivery experience on multiple pipeline platforms
- Cribl Certified Admin (Edge); Splunk Certified Admin or Architect; Elastic Certified Engineer
- Kubernetes and containers; Terraform or Ansible; Git and CI/CD
- Kafka, object storage, and data lakes; Snowflake or Databricks as destinations
- OpenTelemetry for metrics and traces
