Description
We are seeking a Linux Engineer to join our Latency Critical Trading team at Equity IT. As a Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the firm's globally distributed, trading-oriented Linux stack for latency-critical environments. You will partner with application developers and portfolio managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical deliverables. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the design and build of new ultra-low-latency trading capabilities, monitoring the performance, stability, and health of the latency-critical computing environment, and troubleshooting complex production issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and maintaining the firm's globally distributed, trading-oriented Linux stack for latency-critical environments
- Partnering with application developers and portfolio managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical deliverables
- Assisting in the design and build of new ultra-low-latency trading capabilities
- Monitoring the performance, stability, and health of the latency-critical computing environment
- Troubleshooting complex production issues, including packet loss, high latency, instability, kernel bypass, routing and switching, multicast protocols, and precision timing systems
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong understanding of Linux system internals, including kernel operations, memory management, sockets, and interrupts
- Working knowledge of kernel bypass technologies such as Onload or VMA
- Solid understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and IGMP
- Knowledge of FPGA accelerators and smart NICs
- Ability to automate manual and infrastructure processes using Python, Perl, or another high-performance interpreted language
Millennium offers a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000.
