Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated backend engineer to join our Internal Tools team. Our team owns the design and implementation of our next-generation internal tools platform , a new advertiser management platform that unifies several legacy systems under a single, modern foundation, with a focus on high-performance middleware and backend services.
You will play a central role in building this platform from the ground up: designing APIs and services, shaping the data model, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems
- Develop APIs, microservices, and other server-side components that power platform features and functionality
- Contribute to the architecture and design of backend systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant
- Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries that serve as the system of record for the platform
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement new features and improvements
- Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, provide effective solutions, and optimize system performance
- Maintain high standards for code quality, including thorough testing, code reviews, and documentation
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating and recommending new tools, frameworks, and libraries
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional experience in backend development
- Proficiency in Java, with experience in Spring Boot
- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design, best practices, and implementation
- Strong expertise in relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

The pay for this position is $160,000-$185,000 and depends on several factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The company offers a hybrid work arrangement, with two days per week in the Santa Monica office.
