Description
The Library Page position is an educational opportunity for students currently enrolled in an accredited program. The role is located in the Library's special collections conservation lab, where you will work with conservators and technicians on rehousing and stabilizing collections. You will have access to the Library Page Fellowship Program, which provides career growth development resources, on-the-job coaching, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rehousing and basic stabilization of collections
- Support and assist other staff members as needed
- Contribute to the lab's organization, workflows, and capabilities
- Provide administrative support to the lab
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a student in a degree program
- Proper employment certificate for minors under 18
- Interest in cultural heritage
- Demonstrated manual dexterity and hand skills
- Computer fluency, especially with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Sound organizational skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Duties:
- Lifting up to 30 lbs
- Working with machines (computerized mat cutter, ultrasonic and edge polyester welders)
- Work under fume or dust extraction equipment
- Work at a workbench
- Moving book carts
