Description
Palantir is seeking Edge Infrastructure Engineers to build, operate, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable services for their production infrastructure.
The Palantir platform is deployed in numerous critical mission environments, including combat zones and classified networks, from the back of a Humvee to a command post to the cloud. This means operating in multiple cloud environments, on-prem air-gapped networks, and at the edge – at scale.
As an Edge Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for physical network engineering and the development of robust infrastructure that ensures performance of the Palantir platform. You will work closely with engineers to advocate for and participate in sensible, scalable systems design, sharing responsibility for diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues across their most demanding deployments.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintaining availability of cloud & physical Kubernetes servers that power the Palantir platform in air-gapped production environments.
- Design, deploy, and operate infrastructure to support customer & product requirements via modern orchestration & monitoring platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product teams on requirements & SLOs for deploying software into air-gapped environments.
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and solving network & systems issues.
- Scripting to automate away routine operational tasks.
What We Value:
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple different teams spread over a wide geography.
- A very high level of independence and resilience with the ability to work remotely with little oversight and guidance.
- Ability to effectively support customers and advise them on hardware purchases, capacity planning, firewalls, etc.
- Understanding of how database systems work and how to manage them (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Cassandra, Hadoop, and how distributed systems work in general.
- Previous experience with server hardware (e.g., Dell, HP) as well as network engineering, in production data centre environments.
- Solid practical experience of Linux OS, Linux administration, and troubleshooting, as well as familiarity with related tools (e.g., Logical Volume Manager (LVM) commands).
What We Require:
- 5+ years experience managing medium to large scale systems.
- Ability to travel 20-40%.
- French speaking.
