Description

As a Technical Interface Designer (TID) at Electronic Arts, you will bridge the gap between artists and software engineers by combining artistic skills and experience with programming and scripting.

The TID is part of the art team and works closely with artists, project managers, programmers, and other technical designers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recreating authentic broadcast overlays and in-game overlays to match styles
  • Learning and driving art asset conversion from legacy to new format
  • Maintaining best practices in code and art development
  • Creating UI animations and effects using the proprietary game engine
  • Applying proper art optimization techniques in art assets
  • Quickly identifying and debugging art and animation-related issues
  • Designing and creating motion demos for the game front-end and HUD, and integrating them into the game
  • Collaborating with engineering and art teams, explaining both art team needs and technical constraints
  • Documenting tools and workflows on the internal Wiki
  • Conducting high-fidelity rapid prototyping for UX evaluation
  • Learning and supporting animations and UI work with legacy tech (Flash-based animations via ActionScript and timeline)

To qualify, you will need:

  • Technical skills and the ability to quickly learn new proprietary production tools and workflows
  • Proficiency in various Object-Oriented programming languages and scripts (e.g., JavaScript, C#)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and other graphics and animation applications
  • At least 1 year of experience creating 3D motion graphics or interfaces with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
  • Visual animation and programming skills

Preferred skills and qualifications include:

  • Understanding of user experience principles
  • Familiarity with revision version control software, particularly Perforce
  • A degree in a relevant visual art or technical subject (e.g., BSc Computer Science or Game Programming, Game Art and Design Diploma)
