Front End Software Engineer, Media Player

Reddit is seeking a Software Engineer to help build the next version of media web experience. In this role, you will define the technical components of delivering video and audio content at Reddit, focusing on the web media player and APIs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute on product and business strategy
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
• Design and implement end-to-end full-stack solutions, optimizing web UI components for the media player and backend APIs
• Collaborate with client engineers and platform engineers to improve performance of media across Reddit
• Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows and mentor junior engineers

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study
• 3+ years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages
• Proficiency in modern web development technologies (JavaScript, React, Next.js, TypeScript)
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics, and designing maintainable APIs
• Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills
