Senior Software Engineer, OIG

As a Staff Engineer on the OIG team at Okta, you will develop, design, and maintain products serving enterprise customers at scale.

You will be involved in the architecture and evolution of product features across different access governance personas, working collaboratively with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly features.

This role requires someone who thinks in systems, leads with craft, and excels in building enterprise-grade software relied on by millions of users.

Key responsibilities include:

• Taking end-to-end ownership of feature areas from technical design to post-launch monitoring
• Designing, building, and shipping high-quality features across the OIG system with a focus on correctness, reliability, and performance
• Delivering high-quality bug fixes and handling customer-reported issues
• Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code and upholding high engineering standards
• Collaborating with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for development and deployment work

Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of independently owning and delivering complex features in production environments
• Experience architecting and delivering large-scale, distributed systems serving enterprise customers
• Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale
• Strong proficiency in languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud-native languages
• Ability to influence without authority and drive technical alignment across teams and stakeholders
• Experience designing systems meeting enterprise reliability, scalability, and security requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred skills:

• Experience building identity, access management, or governance products or platforms
• Familiarity with workflow engines or approval/routing systems
• Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms serving large, complex customer organisations
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and modern observability tooling
