Weekend Anchor/MSJ

WQAD-TV Davenport, the ABC TEGNA affiliate, seeks an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) to join our team.

As a Weekend Anchor/MSJ, you will create unique, memorable, and well-written stories, presenting them on all platforms with outstanding photography and editing.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct authoritative live shots in developing or breaking news situations
• Develop story ideas and find sources to stay informed about local events and issues
• Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework
• Research facts and maintain credibility
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit on-air and online content within deadlines
• Use creative production techniques and social media to enhance and distribute stories
• Attend editorial meetings and offer daily story ideas
• Write in an engaging, captivating, and authentic style

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred
• Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making
• Strong writing, production, and tease writing abilities
• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics preferred
• Organizational skills to work under constant deadlines
• Ability to handle live breaking news situations calmly
• Proven social and digital content creation ability
• Knowledge of Davenport a plus
