Description
As an Investment Banking Vice President at HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. in Houston, TX, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients in the power, utilities, and renewable energy sector.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Addressing day-to-day client inquiries and supporting ongoing transactions
- Leading client meetings by presenting tailored sector updates and transaction materials
- Proactively identifying client-specific opportunities and responding to real-time questions or feedback during presentations
- Overseeing transaction execution by managing high-level communications with clients and senior external advisors
- Anticipating potential deal issues and ensuring alignment between client objectives and HSBC's internal teams
- Reviewing and approving financial models and valuation analyses prepared by junior team members
- Managing deal team workflow, delegating tasks to associates and analysts, and overseeing quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Analyzing power market fundamentals, regulatory changes, and sector trends to provide actionable insights to clients and support senior bankers in strategic discussions
- Supporting Directors and Managing Directors in client coverage efforts, including preparing business development materials and participating in client meetings
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, management, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience
- 5 years of experience in Investment banking
- 3 years of experience in:
- Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
- Drafting marketing memoranda and developing an equity or credit story
- Coverage of power, utilities, and renewable energy sectors
- Financial modeling and valuation of regulated utilities, independent power producers, and renewable generation assets
- Project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital market transactions within the renewable energy space
- Power market fundamentals, regulatory frameworks, offtake structures, and key risk drivers
- FINRA Series 63 and Series 79 licenses
