At Braze, we're a customer engagement platform that empowers brands to deliver great customer experiences.
We're looking for a Software Engineer II to join the User Targeting team. The team is responsible for how our customers segment and target their users. Every message Braze sends goes through our pipelines, which process billions of users per day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building features across our Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend
- Taking ownership of medium-sized projects and delivering them on time
- Writing and tuning queries against MongoDB and ClickHouse
- Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver features that meet customer needs
- Maintaining and evolving our systems, writing thorough automated tests, reviewing teammates' code, and participating in the on-call rotation
Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications
- Solid understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience with SQL and at least one production database
- Ability to take ownership of projects and deliver them with limited oversight
- Great communication and organizational skills
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL/NoSQL databases
- Experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions
- High-scale, high-throughput system experience
For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $104,400 and $176,040 annually with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $116,000 - $195,600/year.
