The Human Resource Intern - HR Business Partnership will support the Global Corporate HR team in delivering people strategies, programs, and solutions that enable Valvoline Global Operations (VGO) and its corporate functions to achieve business objectives. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, Global Corporate HR, this role provides hands-on exposure to the HR Business Partner function and a broad range of activities across the employee lifecycle.
Responsibilities
HR Business Partnership & Corporate HR Support
- Support the Senior HR Manager, Global Corporate HR and broader Corporate HR team with HR initiatives and priorities supporting corporate functions.
- Assist with gathering and preparing workforce, talent, and organizational information to support HR and business discussions and decisions.
- Develop an understanding of assigned corporate functions, including their organizational structures, talent, priorities, and workforce needs.
- Support employee lifecycle activities and other people-related processes in partnership with HR Business Partners.
- Prepare presentations, communications, meeting materials, trackers, and other resources for HR and business stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, and the employee experience.
Talent, Performance & Organizational Effectiveness
- Support talent management processes, including talent reviews, succession planning, development planning, goal setting, and performance reviews.
- Prepare talent and organizational information, presentations, and other materials used by HR and business leaders.
- Track talent, development, and performance-related actions and follow up on key deliverables.
- Support organizational effectiveness initiatives, including organizational assessments, structure reviews, team effectiveness, and change activities.
- Assist with employee and manager development initiatives in partnership with HR Business Partners and relevant HR Centers of Expertise.
Employee Engagement & Employee Experience
- Support employee engagement surveys, listening activities, action planning, and other employee experience initiatives.
- Analyze employee feedback to identify themes, trends, and potential opportunities.
- Prepare summaries and presentations that translate employee insights into useful information for HR and business leaders.
- Support initiatives related to organizational culture, recognition, employee connection, and retention.
- Assist with employee events, communications, and activities that contribute to an engaging and inclusive workplace.
HR Analytics & Workforce Insights
- Gather, organize, validate, and analyze workforce data to support Corporate HR priorities and business decisions.
- Assist with reporting related to headcount, turnover, talent, performance, engagement, workforce demographics, and other people metrics.
- Prepare spreadsheets, presentations, dashboards, and summaries that translate HR data into clear workforce insights.
- Identify trends, patterns, or data inconsistencies and work with HR team members to understand and address them.
- Support data quality efforts and maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with employee and workforce information.
HR Programs & Projects
- Support the implementation of HR programs, processes, and projects across corporate functions.
- Assist with project planning, communications, documentation, milestones, and deliverables.
- Partner with HR Centers of Expertise, including Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HR Operations, Employee Relations, and Learning & Development, as appropriate.
- Research HR practices and potential solutions to support assigned projects and business needs.
- Support change management and communications associated with HR programs, organizational changes, or new processes.
- Manage assigned projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and effective follow-through.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited undergraduate degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in Human Resources, organizational behavior, talent management, business, analytics, or related subjects is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources, particularly HR Business Partnership, is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize information, identify themes and trends, and develop useful insights.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and organizational levels.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and business information.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to seek feedback and guidance when appropriate.
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn about VGO's business, workforce, and HR practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn HR systems and other technology.
- Previous internship, work, leadership, volunteer, or academic experience demonstrating collaboration, organization, communication, or problem-solving is preferred.
- Must be able to work on-site at VGO’s Cincinnati, OH headquarters.
