We are seeking a Principal Product Designer – UI Platform to join our team at Okta. As a high-impact individual contributor, you will serve as a foundational design lead for Okta's global user experience infrastructure.

The UI Platform team is the force multiplier for Okta's entire product portfolio. By building world-class components, accessible frameworks, and developer-friendly tools, your work will directly impact millions of administrative and end-user interactions every day.
The Role
As a Principal Product Designer – UI Platform, you will act as a resident expert and strategic thought partner, shaping the horizontal design patterns, design architecture, localization/globalization frameworks, and accessibility standards (WCAG) that power every Okta Workforce Identity product.
Responsibilities
- UI & System Leadership: Serve as a UI platform and design system expert, identifying/creating, documenting, and evangelizing scalable, accessible (WCAG), and localized patterns to resolve dependencies across products.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner with cross-functional UI Platform leads to align vision with design strategy, co-owning the roadmap to balance features, tech debt, quality, and adoption.
- Raise the Craft: Enable Okta Research and Development teams through clear alignment and documentation. Improve org-wide processes and mentor designers to promote craft excellence, candid feedback, and growth.
- Data-Informed Decision Making: Leverage data and AI insights to inform clear, platform-level design decisions and streamline governance.
Requirements
- Degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a Product Designer
- Proficient in Figma, Miro, Balsamiq, and/or similar design tools
- Possesses knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Designer
