Producer

WATN WLMT-TV Memphis, a TEGNA-owned ABC/CW affiliate, is seeking an innovative Producer to shape daily newscasts. The successful candidate will craft engaging stories, meet deadlines, and collaborate with the team to produce high-quality content.

Responsibilities:

• Pitch compelling stories using natural curiosity
• Showcase creativity and storytelling skills
• Craft stories of varying lengths for different platforms and audiences
• Meet daily deadlines
• Combine live footage, graphics, and sound to create engaging experiences
• Provide continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and events
• Try new approaches after discussing with supervisors
• Drive content based on community conversations
• Use data analytics to shape show content
• Challenge traditional methods
• Advocate for underrepresented voices

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1-3 years of news content experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong journalistic judgment and news philosophy
• Understanding of professional journalism principles
• Experience producing engaging newscasts and digital content
• Social media skills and active presence on preferred platforms
• Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
• Ability to handle live, breaking news situations
• ENPS and Edius system experience preferred
