Capital One is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join their London office.
You will be a differential people leader, coaching and nurturing engineers, and making a positive impact on their careers and the business.
Responsibilities:
- Bring technical leadership to your team, setting a high bar for engineering, understanding technical risks, and influencing architectural thinking and decisions.
- Ensure your team understands the why behind their work and own and shape culture.
- Own ways of working and deliveries, partnering with your Product Owner and Change Delivery Lead.
- Own one or more business applications, keeping them well-managed and compliant.
- Be a manager for the business, representing the interests and context of the business to your engineers.
Requirements:
- Previous experience leading teams, growing engineers, and dealing with conflict.
- Previous experience as a software engineer, remaining comfortable with technology, architectural decisions, and technical trade-offs.
- Experience with Java, Spring, AWS, and advocating for tight feedback loops through automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and frequent releases.
- Strong ownership, excellent communication, and a drive for positive impact.

This is a permanent position based in the London office, with a hybrid working model requiring 3 days a week in the office.
