Description
In this position, you will lead problem-solving efforts to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment, and conveyor performance issues and downtime.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate resources to identify root causes and fixes, manage and break down problems into verifiable items, and determine suitable validation methods.
- Set up and maintain industrial barcode printers.
- Design and implement vision control systems using knowledge of various vision cameras and their programming software, and continually assess equipment for quality and delivery improvements.
- Utilize FIS plant monitoring software to review equipment cycle times, oversee project installations, and follow up as necessary.
- Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
- Update program backups for machinery and automation.
- Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots.
- Collaborate in reviewing risk assessments and evaluating equipment safety as part of a team.
- Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
- Read and modify electrical prints and schematics using AutoCAD.
- Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks, and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks.
- Manage the installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc imaging, and install communication and firmware and controls software.
- Work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and co-op experience considered).
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, or Automation Engineering.
- Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred.
- Familiarity with PLC/CNC (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB, and FANUC Robots.
- Solid understanding of laser burning.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics, and use AutoCAD.
- Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements.
- Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry.
- Solid understanding of networking, including DH+, Ethernet, and remote IO.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
- Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience.
- Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes.
- Familiarity with TQM and Kaizen methods.
- One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred.
