We're seeking an experienced Senior Jewellery Expert to support our team of experts and jewellery sellers in Italy, contributing to the growth of Catawiki's Jewellery auctions.
Your Mission
As a Catawiki expert, you'll use your specialist knowledge to create attractive auctions by evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our sellers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and arrange lots submitted by sellers for auctions
- Review lot titles, descriptions, pictures, and provide users with an estimated and realistic value
- Maintain transparency and fairness in user transactions
- Work with the sales department to recruit and develop new sellers and diversify the selection of lots offered in auctions
- Collaborate with the marketing department to generate increased bidder attention at your auction
Requirements
- Gemmology Diploma from a recognised school (FEEG or GIA)
- 5-10 years' experience in the jewellery, diamonds, or precious stones trade
- Project management capabilities and experience partnering with cross-functional teams
- Good grasp of market prices and understanding of jewellery second-hand market dynamics
- Experience in appraising and assessing jewellery
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data
- Extensive trade knowledge and network of potential sellers and experts
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in computer tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, Google Slides)
- Diplomatic competence to act as a mediator in disputes
- Fluent English language skills; Italian is a plus
