Software Engineer, Platform Engineering (L2)

As a Software Engineer, Platform Engineering (L2), you will help build and operate backend services at scale, working alongside more senior engineers on our dual-cloud infrastructure spanning Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and operate services and automations that support Kubernetes clusters at scale
• Participate in code reviews and follow established patterns and testing standards
• Support cloud configurations across AWS and Azure environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Help maintain observability coverage, including metrics, alerts, and basic distributed tracing
• Build awareness of clean architectural practices and flag technical debt, bugs, and small-scale system issues
• Actively seek feedback and mentorship from senior engineers and participate in sprint planning

Qualifications:

• 1-2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Exposure to building or operating backend services using Kubernetes
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Working knowledge of at least one of Shell, Terraform, YAML, or Go (Golang)
• Basic familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS core services or Microsoft Azure equivalents
• Foundational understanding of distributed datastores, caching layers, or asynchronous event streaming

Compensation:

• $116,960.00 to $146,200.00 per year (based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C.)

This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan.
