As part of Wise's team, you will be helping create an entirely new network for the world's money. The Business Operations Tooling team builds and improves essential tools required by Operational teams to efficiently maximise high-volume business customers.
The Engineering Lead is responsible for the overall technical architecture, development standards, and successful implementation of the roadmap's technical deliverables. They will also hire and manage engineers, and work with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the technical approach for building tools, considering short-term wins vs long-term initiatives.
- Participate in product definition and roadmap of the team.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring code quality and driving project completion.
- Work with cross-functional teams to build and integrate tools.
Required Experience:
- Experience in leading and mentoring software engineers.
- Strong communication style, experience leading teams and working across functions.
- Experience in backend engineering and system architecture, with a proven track record of delivering scalable solutions.
- Experience with designing complex systems, database handling, API design, and asynchronous messaging.
- Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with JVM languages (Java, Kotlin).
- Financial background.
