People Systems Engineer

GitLab is seeking a People Systems Engineer to build and maintain automations, integrations, and AI-powered workflows that connect Workday, Greenhouse, Slack, and other tools.

As a People Systems Engineer, you will report to the Senior Director, People Technology, and work alongside the Lead People Systems Engineer to design, build, and maintain automations and integrations across Workato, Google Cloud Platform, Claude, Workday, Greenhouse, and GitLab.

Responsibilities:

• Build, test, and maintain People system automations and integrations
• Develop integrations between Workday, Greenhouse, Slack, and internal tools
• Write clean, readable automation code in Ruby or a comparable scripting language
• Monitor integration health, troubleshoot failures, and fix root causes
• Ship changes safely through GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Lead with AI: use AI tools, large language models, and Model Context Protocol frameworks
• Look past the surface of a request to find the real problem and recommend solutions
• Partner with People Technology Analysts, Information Security, IT, and AI Engineering on security and standards

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience building automations or integrations
• Experience writing and maintaining code in Ruby or a comparable scripting language
• Hands-on experience with Workato or a comparable integration platform as a service
• Experience working with APIs and web services
• Proficiency with Git for version control and code review
