Description
Enterprise Technology plays a critical part in shaping the future of mobility. If you’re looking for the chance to leverage advanced technology to redefine the transportation landscape, enhance the customer experience and improve people’s lives, this is the opportunity for you.
Join Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team, which is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out.
Responsibilities
You will be part of a newly formed team that will execute cross-domain Mechatronics Subsystem integration across all vehicle programs. You will be laser-focused on bridging the gap between Electronics, Mechanical Hardware (VHE), Features, Controls & Software (CVS) and others, acting as the central integration lead to ensure flawless physical-to-electrical execution.
While the Mechatronics Core Team works in the background to design enterprise standards, mathematical models, and templates, this role will focus on owning specific mechatronic subsystems (fuel systems) and intercepting feature intent before component design begins. The team will manage the physical-to-electrical transfer functions, ensuring that system performance meets subsystem requirements such as the physical realities of mechanical hardware (torque, thermal limits, kinematics).
Key Deliverables:
- Subsystem Boundary Diagrams (program-specific)
- Component Design specification (CDS) with validated signals and constraints
- Physical-to-electrical transfer function models
- Integration readiness reviews aligned to GPDS milestones
- Root cause + containment plans for cross-domain issues
- Subsystem verification & sign-off plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years’ experience delivering products, systems, Design and Release, or features from conception to launch.
- 5 years of experience demonstrating positive teamwork ethics and the ability to collaborate across competing engineering domains.
- 3+ years of ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- 2+ years’ of automotive propulsion subsystems experience.
Even better, you may have...
- Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years’ automotive propulsion subsystems experience.
- Experience bridging the gap between physical hardware limitations and software controls (Mechatronics).
- Experience with Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) deliverables and timing.
- Proficiency in JIRA, FEDE and JAMA, with technical experience using VSEM, Boundary Diagrams, and Component Design specification (CDS).
- Experience with in-vehicle architectures, network communications (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and their constraints/complexity.
- Experience with Component Design and Release (D&R), program management and planning, business strategy, and product coordination.
- Hands-on experience with physical-to-electrical modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad).
- Prior experience acting as a Systems Engineer, Subsystem Lead, or Integration/Test Engineer on a major vehicle program.
- Demonstrated mindset of Continuous Improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
