Description

Cisco's Webex Engineering Group is redefining the future of collaboration. We're building a world where people connect effortlessly and enjoy modern, uncompromised collaboration across every room, desk, pocket, and application.

As a member of our team, your work will shape experiences used by millions of people globally, enabling seamless collaboration across devices and locations and supporting the hybrid working patterns of the future.

Your Impact

  • Design, build, and evolve high-quality end-user features used by millions of people worldwide, with a particular focus on native, performance-sensitive application development.
  • Contribute to and help lead architectural decisions within your domain, creating scalable, maintainable designs aligned with the broader platform strategy.
  • Break down complex product requirements into clear technical designs and executable work, guiding delivery from concept to production.
  • Develop robust, well-tested production code. Much of our existing codebase is written in modern C++, and you will be supported in building deeper C++ expertise if your experience comes from another relevant language.
  • Improve engineering efficiency through automation, including development tooling, test automation, CI/CD workflows, diagnostics, and repeatable operational processes.
  • Use product telemetry, operational data, and customer feedback to investigate issues, identify trends and root causes, and prioritise improvements that measurably enhance reliability and customer experience.
  • Define and monitor meaningful engineering and product-quality metrics, turning data into clear recommendations and actions.
  • Set high standards for code quality, testing, observability, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, pairing, code reviews, constructive feedback, and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to influence roadmap decisions and balance customer value, technical health, and long-term sustainability.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools thoughtfully to improve productivity and accelerate delivery, while retaining ownership of the quality, security, and correctness of production solutions.
  • Bring curiosity, accountability, and positivity, helping to foster a culture of ownership, learning, inclusion, and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, another relevant analytical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent delivering high-quality, production-grade software in complex environments.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, such as C++, Java, Swift, or Objective-C, together with the ability and willingness to work in and develop proficiency with modern C++.
  • Strong software design and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate trade-offs and make sound technical decisions.
  • Experience contributing to architecture and design discussions and helping teams reach clear, pragmatic decisions.
  • Experience with automated testing and a commitment to quality through code reviews, test strategy, observability, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience using data, telemetry, logs, or other quantitative evidence to diagnose technical or customer-facing problems and assess the impact of changes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product partners, and stakeholders with different levels of technical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience with modern C++, particularly in a large, long-lived, or cross-platform codebase.
  • Experience building native, desktop, real-time, media, collaboration, or other performance-sensitive applications.
  • End-to-end development experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Languages: Modern C++, Python, Swift, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Rust, C#, or Objective-C
  • UI frameworks: Qt, Cocoa, React, Angular, or similar
  • Back end: Java/Spring, RESTful APIs, WebSockets, distributed systems, or API design
  • Experience creating automation using Python or a similar scripting language for tooling, testing, build pipelines, diagnostics, or operational workflows.
  • Practical data-analysis experience using SQL, Python, dashboards, observability platforms, or similar tools to explore data and communicate actionable insights.
  • Significant experience contributing to or owning system architecture for large-scale, customer-facing applications.
  • Strong experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, including contract testing and test automation in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools for activities such as design exploration, scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, debugging, or data investigation.
  • Strong familiarity with Git, DevOps practices, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Experience developing or optimising applications across Windows, macOS, Linux, or web platforms.
