Staff Information Systems Security Officer

Shield AI is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Staff Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support its Federal Systems Team and ensure the security, compliance, and integrity of its classified information systems.

This is an on-site role within a high-performance classified IT environment. The Staff ISSO will play a critical role in safeguarding systems by implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls, supporting system accreditation, and ensuring compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls in accordance with RMF and NIST 800-53
• Ensure compliance with DoD and IC requirements
• Review configurations, audit logs, and controls regularly
• Support RMF lifecycle activities
• Maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, and related artifacts
• Coordinate with ISSM, AO, and stakeholders
• Perform vulnerability management and patch tracking
• Analyze scan results (ACAS/Nessus)
• Report system risk posture
• Support incident response activities
• Assist with audits and inspections
• Maintain audit-ready documentation
• Support CDS accreditation and compliance
• Validate configurations and data flows
• Coordinate with CDS administrators
• Ensure STIG compliance
• Maintain secure baselines
• Review configuration changes
• Work with engineers and admins on secure design
• Provide guidance on MLS environments

Requirements

• 8 years in cybersecurity or ISSO roles in classified environments
• Experience with RMF and NIST 800-53
• Familiarity with STIGs and vulnerability tools

Preferred Qualifications

• IC or SAP environment experience
• eMASS familiarity
• Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
