This role is responsible to drive the data governance and data quality management culture in the company, establish and execute the minimum requirements on data quality management including remediation for all the data domains.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Data Quality Management

  • Lead the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Data Quality Framework in line with regulatory requirement and Group Policy and Standard.
  • Define, review and optimize Data Quality Rules, thresholds and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Establish risk-based monitoring for Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Drive proactive identification of data quality risks and governance gaps.
  • Perform root cause analysis and ensure sustainable remediation of recurring issues.
  • Define and implement preventive, detective and corrective controls to improve data quality.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Data Quality Management.

Data Quality Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor enterprise-wide data quality performance against agreed standards and thresholds.
  • Produce timely, accurate and insightful Data Quality scorecards, dashboards and management reports.
  • Analyse emerging trends, themes and root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective tracking and closure of data quality issues within agreed timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall Data Quality Scores.

Data Quality Remediation

  • Facilitate issue prioritisation and remediation discussions with Data Owners and Data Stewards.
  • Challenge stakeholders where remediation timelines are not met.
  • Escalate material data quality risks and unresolved issues through governance forums.
  • Drive accountability for issue resolution and control effectiveness.

B. Data Governance Support (20%)

  • Act as deputy and strategic support to the Data Governance Manager in executing the Data Governance roadmap.
  • Support implementation of Group Data Governance Policies, Standards and Operating Models.
  • Assist in preparation of Data Governance Council (DGC) materials, dashboards and management reports.
  • Track and monitor governance actions, decisions and commitments arising from governance forums.
  • Support governance maturity assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Business Analytics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MBA or Master's) is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Informatica Data Quality Certification, COBIT, ITIL or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or information governance.
  • At least 2 to 3 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
  • Prior experience in life insurance, takaful, banking, or financial services is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience working in regulated environments subject to regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Understanding of Databricks and Informatica will be an added advantage.
