Description
As a Senior Design for Manufacturing Mechanical engineer at NVIDIA, you will focus on mechanical/thermal components and assembly readiness, supporting all products developed by NVIDIA SPT.
Your contribution will be to manufacturing DFM (design for manufacturing) and DFA (Design for assembly) development, finding MFD (Manufacturing for design) solutions, driving manufacturing feedback to Engineering, and implementing industry best practices to ensure smooth system integration in manufacturing.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive mechanical supplier and contract manufacturer (CEM) readiness to ensure that all processes, tools, and fixtures realize the mechanical design intent at the highest possible quality and yield.
- Collaborate with the NVIDIA SPT mechanical team to understand critical-to-function requirements for systems and components.
- Perform detailed DFM and DFA analysis and liaise with the NVIDIA SPT mechanical engineering team to provide solutions using best industry practices.
- Identify and lead efforts to find solutions to problems that may adversely affect quality, yield, and manufacturability.
- Work with mechanical suppliers and CEMs to establish manufacturing specifications and audit implementation of production processes.
- Gather feedback on DFx, yield, and quality issues to improve workflow and efficiency.
- Evaluate assembly fixture and jig development, assembly specification review, and assembly process step-by-step evaluation and validation.
- Coordinate the purchase of special equipment, materials, and parts to ensure they meet intended use, specifications, and quality standards.
- Recommend technology aids, product design changes, and workspace layout modifications to achieve optimum quality and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience, with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong mechanical product design and manufacturing background with hands-on DFM/DFA experience.
- Solid understanding of materials, metallurgy, plastics, solid mechanics, manufacturing processes, and product development.
- Experience driving NPI and manufacturing process development across multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Practical knowledge of system assembly, system testing, tolerance analysis, and GD&T for complex assemblies.
- Understanding of manufacturing technologies, mechanical testing and inspection methods, thermal considerations, and basic electrical principles.
- Proficiency with Creo or equivalent CAD software.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
