Evening Anchor

We are seeking an exceptional Evening Anchor for WQAD-TV Davenport, a TEGNA ABC affiliate. As a key member of our news team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging newscasts that serve the needs of our audience and community. You will excel in accountability reporting and breaking news, and be able to work collaboratively with producers to develop smart and innovative newscasts.

Responsibilities:

• Use editorial judgment to determine newscast content
• Collaborate with producers and teams to create unique, fast-paced newscasts
• Leverage social media to identify content and highlight significant stories
• Write and post daily on all digital platforms, including social media
• Develop story ideas, write, shoot, and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting
• Create original content through social listening and independent sources
• Perform additional tasks as required by supervisors or executive producers

Requirements:

• Minimum 5-7 years of news anchor/reporting experience
• Ability to develop story ideas, write, shoot, and edit news stories for television, mobile, and social platforms
• Excellent presentation and writing skills
• Understanding of professional journalism principles
• Current driver's license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle
