Description
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to focus on database reliability engineering for their Grafana Cloud platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of Grafana's multi-tenant SaaS databases, including Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope.
The role involves a mix of building and operating, with responsibilities including writing production code, automation, and product changes to improve database reliability. The ideal candidate will have experience with distributed systems, production software skills, and a deep understanding of performance, scaling, and failure modes.
Key responsibilities:
- Building reliability into the product by writing production code and automation
- Leading technical design and authoring design documents
- Defining and evolving per-tenant SLOs and reliability models
- Improving observability and alerting
- Being on-call for highest-SLA customers and handling incident response
- Mentoring engineers and teaching reliability practices
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong production software skills in an object-oriented language
- Deep understanding of distributed systems
- Experience with multi-tenant systems at scale on Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with SLOs and incident response
- Staff-level technical leadership experience
Nice to have:
- Experience with Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, or other observability databases
- Open-source contributions
- Customer reliability engineering experience
In Spain, the base compensation range for this role is €94,025 - €112,830.
