Description
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer 4 to join our Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) team at Capital One. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be part of a team that drives a major transformation within Capital One, focusing on enabling and evolving the company's foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience, and availability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building and pioneering in the technology space, with a passion for solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative delivery environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving architectural vision for resilient, large-scale production systems
- Spearheading strategic automation to eliminate systemic toil and elevate platform efficiency
- Leading crisis management, deep-dive root cause analysis, and defining system-wide outage prevention strategies
- Defining and governing the secure, multi-cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy and maturity roadmap
- Establishing organization-wide Service Level Objectives (SLOs), driving accountability for reliability and error budget compliance
- Serving as the primary technical mentor, scaling SRE talent and culture across engineering teams
- Owning and implementing proactive capacity forecasting, cost optimization, and FinOps strategy for core infrastructure
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- At least 8 years of experience leading SRE or DevOps initiatives and defining technical roadmaps
- At least 8 years of experience in architecting, optimizing, and governing enterprise-scale solutions on a major cloud provider (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP)
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master's Degree
- Experience defining and driving IaC/CI/CD strategies and best practices across the organization
- Expertise in managing and optimizing complex, high-scale distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
- Proven success leading and integrating SRE principles within mature Agile/Scrum development environments
- Deep experience designing and implementing holistic observability and advanced, metrics-driven SLO frameworks
- Expertise in implementing comprehensive security and compliance governance in cloud environments
In terms of compensation, the minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are $179,400 - $204,700.
