About the Team
The Marketing team contributes to OpenAI's broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. We develop and execute strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform amongst our core audiences.
About the Role
As a Product Marketing Manager for Partner Marketing on the Hardware team, you will help shape the partnership strategy for a new product ecosystem and bring that ecosystem to market with the right partners, programs, and commercial motions. This role calls for a strategic, relationship-oriented marketer who can identify high-potential partners, understand their priorities, and turn shared opportunities into durable, high-impact go-to-market plans.
You will work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Integrated Marketing, Sales, Comms, Finance, Legal, and partner-facing teams to define how first-, second-, and third-party partners participate in our hardware ecosystem. You will lead the marketing and commercial aspects of partnerships, support joint launches, and ensure partner needs are understood internally while OpenAI's product, brand, and customer experience standards are represented externally.
Responsibilities
- Help craft and implement the partnership strategy for OpenAI's hardware product ecosystem.
- Identify, prioritize, and evaluate potential partners for participation in first-, second-, and third-party partner programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, serving as a trusted counterpart through launches, growth moments, ambiguity, and challenges.
- Understand partner stakeholders, business models, priorities, and constraints, and advocate for those perspectives internally.
- Lead the commercial marketing aspects of partnerships, including positioning, launch strategy, sales enablement, distribution, and joint marketing plans.
- Manage partner execution for joint product launches, campaigns, events, and other go-to-market efforts.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Sales, Comms, and Integrated Marketing to align partner strategy with product and business goals.
- Develop partner narratives, messaging, and materials that clearly communicate the value of OpenAI's hardware products and ecosystem.
- Monitor partner performance, market feedback, and customer signals to improve future programs and deepen partner impact.
Requirements
- Have 10+ years of experience in product marketing, partner marketing, business development marketing, ecosystem marketing, or related go-to-market roles.
- Have experience building or scaling partner programs, ideally in consumer hardware, platforms, devices, developer ecosystems, or emerging technology categories.
- Are highly relationship-oriented and can build trust with external partners while navigating complex internal priorities.
- Can translate partner needs, customer insights, and product strategy into clear positioning, launch plans, and commercial programs.
- Have led successful cross-functional launches or campaigns with multiple internal teams and external partners.
- Bring strong business judgment across marketing, sales, distribution, and commercial partnership models.
- Are an excellent communicator and storyteller, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Are comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment where the strategy, product, and ecosystem are being built in parallel.
