Special Education Assistant

KIPP SoCal Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to join their team. As a Special Education Assistant, you will provide support to students with disabilities, implement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans, and deliver instruction. You will also participate as a member of the educational team, design and implement individual programs, and uphold school rules and policies.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to students with disabilities
• Implement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans and effective behavior management strategies
• Deliver instruction and participate as a member of the educational team
• Design and implement individual programs
• Support student health needs, including mobility, diapering, and toileting if applicable
• Uphold and enforce school rules and policies
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the teacher
• Supervise students throughout the school day
• Assist with student assessments and IEP meetings
• Maintain confidentiality of students and families

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree highly preferred
• 1-year experience working with students with special needs in a school setting
• Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral intervention for students with complex and/or severe behavioral problems
• Certification in NCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) desired
• First aid and CPR desired
• Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and applied behavior analysis (ABA)
