HAL - Kitchen Asst - CSSI

We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team on board.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the culinary team in preparing food for our guests and crew according to our company's menus and recipes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to company policies on waste separation and environmental compliance.
• Act as an ambassador for reducing food waste by minimising waste during food preparation.
• Assist in preparing food according to company recipes.
• Implement and execute food handling and cleaning procedures in accordance with USPH standards.
• Follow all HACCP procedures set by the company.
• Utilise, maintain, and return equipment and utensils properly to prevent damage or loss.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment or furnishings to the Chef de Partie.
• Ensure high standards of performance, appearance, dress, and personal conduct.
• Meet Guest Satisfaction Scores for food ratings in your assigned area.
• Follow guidelines and instructions from the Chef de Partie and/or Chef de Cuisine.
• Maintain high levels of productivity, cleanliness, and sanitation throughout your work shift.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Good listening skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Initiative in performing culinary tasks.
• Willingness to ask questions if tasks are unclear.
• Team player mentality.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 1+ year of experience in a 5-star hotel, cruise ship, or high-profile restaurant in a similar role.
• Experience in high-volume operations serving at least 100 meals per service.
• Certification from an accredited advanced food safety program, with extensive knowledge of VSP preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of kitchen machinery and knife safety.
• Effective English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
• A degree from an accredited culinary college or university is preferred.
