The Role
As a Senior Contracts Lawyer at Carta Law, you'll lead high-value negotiations, own key client relationships, and play a significant role in developing junior lawyers and the wider paralegal team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the negotiation of high-value, complex pre-M&A contracts and multi-party agreements across the client portfolio.
- Own and independently manage key client relationships with sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients.
- Manage external counsel instructions and supervision across relevant matters.
- Drive continuous improvement of Carta's legal technology suite, including Carta Ava , identifying, piloting, and embedding new capabilities.
- Mentor and develop E4 Contract Lawyers and senior paralegals, reviewing their work and providing structured feedback.
- Own and evolve the firm-wide standard clause library and cross-client playbook framework.
Requirements
- Senior practitioner. You're licensed to practise law in the UK, Europe, US, or Canada, with 5+ PQE.
- Complex negotiator. You have a track record independently leading complex pre-M&A negotiations, including cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Trusted advisor. You build and sustain trusted advisor status with sophisticated financial services clients and lead senior stakeholder engagement.
- Tech innovator. You're an expert user of Carta Ava, HighQ, and CLM/e-signature platforms, and you drive AI/legal tech adoption across the team.
- Mentor and leader. You develop junior team members with structured feedback and contribute to team strategy and resourcing.
- Commercially sharp. You align legal advice with business objectives and manage external counsel spend effectively.
