Sports Director

KFSM-TV, a TEGNA CBS affiliate in Fayetteville, AR, is seeking a Sports Director to lead the station's sports product across all platforms.

The ideal candidate will set the editorial vision for sports coverage, host a daily streaming show, and build a following that engages with the story wherever it is.

Responsibilities:

• Set editorial direction for sports coverage across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms
• Host and produce a daily streaming sports show
• Cover the Arkansas Razorbacks, including games, practices, news conferences, recruiting, and related stories
• Lead year-round high school sports coverage
• Break news through cultivated sources, social listening, and independent reporting
• Develop story ideas, shoot, write, edit, and voice content
• Create mobile-first and vertical video content
• Write and post daily updates on the website, app, and social platforms
• Build and maintain a personal social media presence reflecting the 5NEWS brand
• Integrate sports into daily newscasts and coordinate highlight coverage
• Represent the station in the community and maintain relationships with coaches and sports information staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by the News Director

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of sports reporting and anchoring experience
• Journalism or Communications degree preferred
• Strong on-camera presence and writing skills
• Proficiency with current field and nonlinear editing tools
• Demonstrated social media following and mobile content portfolio
• Ability to develop sources and break stories
• Exceptional organization and multitasking skills
• Sound editorial judgment and understanding of professional journalism
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift and carry field equipment
