Description
We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow. This is a bank role working on an 'as and when required' basis, supplementing staffing levels during busy periods and providing cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting detailed assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing functions using a variety of clinical tools and techniques
- Developing and delivering evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient goals, including communication therapy, voice therapy, and dysphagia management
- Collaborating with medical teams, nursing staff, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care
- Educating patients, families, and carers about therapy strategies, communication aids, and safe swallowing practices
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC, RCSLT, and organisational policies
- Recommending and supporting the use of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) tools and resources
To be considered for this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
- Experience with acute medical patients, with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with communication and/or swallowing disorders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
